Adult Behind the Wheel in Virginia — Skip the DMV Road Test Wait
If you’re 18 or older with a Virginia learner’s permit, you don’t have to wait months for a DMV road test appointment. Our Adult Behind the Wheel program lets you complete your in-car training and take the road test right here with a certified Drive Well instructor. Pass, and we issue your DTS-D certificate — which waives both the DMV road test and the 60-day permit holding period. Most of our adult students go from first lesson to license paperwork in a couple of weeks, not months. This program is for drivers with some experience — not brand-new learners.
Who This Program Is For
This is for adults who already know how to drive and just need the official path to a Virginia license. Maybe you moved here from another state or country, maybe life got busy and you never got licensed, or maybe you let your permit sit for a while. Whatever the reason, you’ll train with a certified instructor on the same Loudoun and Fairfax roads you’ll actually drive — Route 7, Route 28, the Dulles corridor — and finish with the road test done and your DTS-D certificate in hand.
Adults 18+ with a Permit
Hold a valid Virginia learner’s permit and comfortable behind the wheel? You can take your road skills test with us instead of waiting on the DMV. Still need the classroom piece? Start with our Online Driver’s Ed (30‑Hour) or grab the $525 bundle that includes it.
International Drivers
Drove for years back home but new to Virginia roads? We’ll get you comfortable with VA traffic laws, right‑of‑way rules, signage, parking, and highway interchanges — patient coaching, no judgment.
Good to know: The DTS‑D certificate is not a license by itself — the DMV mails your physical license in about 3–4 weeks after processing. Applying with a Driver Privilege Card? You may not qualify for the road test waiver, so call us at 703-817-5047 before enrolling and we’ll confirm your eligibility.

We check your permit and Driver’s Ed certificate. Don’t have Driver’s Ed yet? The $525 bundle includes our Online Driver’s Education (30‑Hour) so you can knock it out at home.
Complete In‑Car Periods
Up to seven 50‑minute driving sessions, scheduled around your work and family life. We pick you up and drop you off.
Build Exam‑Ready Skills
Hazard scanning, lane discipline, speed management, parking, and merging — practiced on the real Northern Virginia roads where you’ll be tested and where you’ll actually drive.
Instructor Road Test
Your certified instructor administers the road skills exam during the program. No DMV appointment, no separate trip, no months-long waitlist.
Receive Your DTS‑D Certificate
Pass and we issue your DTS‑D on the spot, then guide the paperwork to the DMV. Your physical license arrives by mail in about 3–4 weeks.
