On the other hand, Behind-the-wheel programs primarily focus on testing rather than training individuals in driving skills. They are designed to assess and certify participants’ driving abilities, ensuring they meet the requirements for obtaining a driver’s license or certification.
If you’ve gotten three demerit point traffic violations while you were under 18, the DMV will suspend your permit or license for at least one year, or until you turn 18, whichever takes longer.
Under 18 in Virginia? Here are the rules:
- Curfew:
– No driving from midnight to 4 a.m., except:
– for work,
– supervised activities,
– with a licensed adult,
– during emergencies. - Passenger Limits:
– Usually just one under-21 passenger, unless:
– one year of holding your license, then up to three,
– for school activities, with an adult, or during emergencies.
– Learner’s permit holders can’t carry more than one under-18 passenger.
Exceptions for family members.
Violations mean license suspension.
Cell Phone Use:
– No cell phone use while driving, even hands-free.
– Only for emergencies when the vehicle is safely parked or stopped.
Behind the Wheel Teens(license included): To participate in the Behind the Wheel Teens program, the student must have a valid Learner’s permit and a Driver’s Ed Certificate and complete a minimum of 45 hours of driving practice.
Adult Behind the Wheel (License Program): The Adult Behind the Wheel program is designed for individuals with a learner’s permit, a Driver’s Ed certificate, and previous driving experience. This program is not suitable for new drivers.
Adult Waiver(License included): The Adult Waiver program requires a learner’s permit and previous driving experience. (online driver’s ed course included in price)

Yes, Behind the Wheel is needed in Virginia for individuals under 18.
A re-examination course is required for those who failed the DMV permit or road skill three times in DMV. We charge $185 for the learner’s permit re examination course and $400 for the road test re-examination course.
Re Examination for the Permit test is 8 hours online course.
Re Examination for road tests is 7 days behind the wheel program.

Yes, as long as you have finished 30 hours of daytime driving and 15 hours of nighttime driving. You can start your behind-the-wheel.
In Virginia, you can start driving alone once you have held your Learner’s permit for at least nine months, completed a state-approved driver education program, and passed the required tests, including the road skills test. Additionally, if you are under 18, you must also meet specific other criteria, such as completing a minimum number of practice driving hours with a licensed adult.
